Stonefly Nymphs
Stonefly nymphs are a staple food source for trout year‑round. Species like Pteronarcys (Salmonflies), Hesperoperla and Acroneuria (Goldens), and the smaller Nemouridae and Capniidae families all share the same traits: long lives, strong clinging legs, and a tendency to get dislodged during high flows. Trout know these nymphs are high‑calorie meals and will eat them aggressively whenever they’re available.
