Blue Wing Olives
September-April: Best to fish when the weather is bad. Afternoon hatches on cold, overcast days.
Colorado and Montana get all the attention, but those who have been around the block a few times know that Wyoming is where the fish are and the people aren't. From one side of the state to the other, there are no big cities, just an occasional small town to fill up your tank and venture back to the secluded wilds of the west.
Four species of cutthroat, brookies, browns, rainbows, lake trout, this place has everything you could want in a fishing state.
If you do want to fish with a thousand of your closest friends, there is the Firehole River in Yellowstone. You'll never fish alone...
Beyond that, its a state full of high-quality trout fishing without the crowds of Colorado or Montana.

The most epic hatch in Western Rivers is thick as thieves in Wyoming. Salmonflies, Goldens and Yellow Sallies rule the early summer here

April-May: These bugs love riffles in the late afternoon!
April-October, Washington has consistent, large caddis hatches on many popular trout streams.
July-September; Hoppers, Crickets, Beetles, Ants. Fish these patterns!
Maybe the most famous small river in the world. I mean, there are geysers dumping right into the river. THE iconic Yellowstone river. You must fish here at least once.
Nothing but big bugs and big fish. Home to what is rightfully called the Magic Mile, this is one of the most epic fisheries in the west. It receives decent pressure, but nowhere near the pressure of most Montana rivers, or anything near Yellowstone.
While the most well-known stretch of the Green River is fished through Utah, there are hundreds of miles of epic fishing upstream of Utah throughout Wyoming. Starting in a series of Lakes in the Wind River Mountains, this river flows with little pressure across Southwest Wyoming.
Another super high-quality trout river that sees little pressure compared to similar rivers in nearby states. Well worth the hours of driving through empty roads.
