Orvis PRO Wading Boots – Michelin® Traction Meets Pro-Level Durability
The Orvis PRO Wading Boot represents a major advancement in wading boot performance, developed through a groundbreaking collaboration with Michelin®. Designed specifically for fly fishing, the boot features the Michelin Outdoor Extreme outsole, a revolutionary rubber compound engineered to deliver exceptional traction on wet rocks and slick river bottoms.
This innovative outsole provides 25% greater abrasion resistance and up to 43% improved wet rubber traction compared to traditional wading boot materials. Borrowing geometry from Michelin tire technology, the sole design offers a wider footprint for improved stability, increased surface contact for grip, and a lug pattern that helps reduce shock while distributing pressure more evenly across the foot.
Underfoot, the boot features a dual-layer midsole with a co-molded ESS plate that enhances torsional stability and improves stud retention for anglers who add optional traction studs. A shock-absorbing Phylon midsole improves “river feel” while resisting compression better than standard EVA midsoles.
Inside the boot, a 3D molded OrthoLite® X25 insole—developed for high-impact sports—delivers exceptional cushioning, support, and long-lasting comfort during long days on the water.
Durability is built into every detail. The PU-cast upper construction eliminates seams in high-wear areas, dramatically increasing abrasion resistance while creating a supportive cage structure without unnecessary bulk. A quick-drying Clarino™ microfiber upper provides excellent strength-to-weight performance, while scratch rubber reinforcements at the toe and heel protect against rock and river abrasion.
A higher-cut design with closed-cell foam lining adds ankle support for uneven terrain, while an oversized heel pull makes the boots easy to slip on and off. High-density laces are built to resist breakage and withstand repeated use in demanding environments.
