Blue Wing Olives
September-April: Best to fish when the weather is bad. Afternoon hatches on cold, overcast days.
General Info: New York is as fishy of a state as any other. The dedication of NY anglers is unparalleled in the fly fishing world. The yearly migration of salmon and steelhead to the Pulaski area also brings a yearly migration of anglers to the Great Lakes region of upstate NY. The fishing for salmon and steelhead in the fall here is as good as it gets anywhere in the US. Beyond the Salmon River in the fall, Montauk Point is one of the more famous areas to catch a striper in the US. There are some really nice little trout streams in the Catskills as well. NY may have a lot of people, but it also has a lot of great fishing opportunities.
