Description
The Sage ARBOR XL Fly Reel is built around one simple advantage: picking up line fast. Its extra-large diameter arbor retrieves line approximately 15% faster than a conventional large-arbor reel, making it especially effective when fast-moving fish suddenly turn and charge back toward us.
That quick retrieval is paired with a narrow spool that makes it easier to lay line evenly across the reel without constantly thinking about level-winding. The combination works equally well chasing bonefish across a flat, controlling a hot rainbow in heavy current, or keeping up with salmon that can change direction in an instant.
Inside, Sage's proven Sealed Carbon System (SCS) drag provides smooth, consistent pressure while protecting the system from water, sand, grit, and salt. The One Revolution drag knob offers precise, repeatable adjustments, making it easy to move from light stripping tension to the pressure needed when a fish gets into the backing.
Fully machined from 6061-T6 aerospace-grade aluminum, then cold forged, tempered, and hard anodized, the ARBOR XL combines a surprisingly lightweight design with the strength and corrosion resistance needed for both freshwater and saltwater fishing.
