Over decades of designing and fishing two-handed systems, we’ve learned one thing clearly: Spey reels demand a different standard. Bigger lines. Longer rods. Harder-running fish. More torque. More wear. More need for balance, control, and bulletproof reliability.

That’s exactly what the SPEY Reel delivers.

Sealed Carbon Drag + Dual Clicker Control (SCS System)

At the heart of every SPEY Reel is a redesigned version of our trusted Sealed Carbon System (SCS) Drag, now upgraded with two major evolutions:

1) Newly Formulated O-Ring Seals

Our proprietary O-rings are engineered to withstand greater compression, creating a stronger seal while resisting fatigue and wear over time. The result is a drag system built to handle harsh weather, heavy use, and long seasons chasing anadromous fish.

2) Custom Dual-Clicker System

We redesigned the clicker system and added a second clicker, resulting in:

• Increased durability

• Stronger, more satisfying resonance

• Better amplification

• Reduced free-spool rotation

That last point matters: less unwanted spool rotation means you keep more effective fishing distance, especially when wading, swinging, and stripping line between casts.

One-Revolution Drag Knob (Precision Adjustments)

The SPEY Reel features a one-revolution drag knob with:

• 20 numbered drag settings

• Half-detents for fine tuning

• Consistent, repeatable drag you can return to again and again

Spey-Tuned Frame + Spool Design (Balance + Line Management)

Spey rods are long. Spey lines are thick. Spey casting systems demand balance.

So we gave the frame system equal attention — not as an afterthought, but as a core performance feature.

Fine-Tuned Weight & Rod Balance

The SPEY Reel is ported strategically (or intentionally not ported) to create the correct overall mass for long two-handed rods.

We also repositioned the reel foot away from exact center to better align with the reel’s true center of mass, producing a more uniform axial balance when mounted on a Spey rod.

Full-Frame Design for Shooting Line Security

A full-frame build eliminates the risk of thin running line slipping between spool and frame — a major advantage when fishing:

Radiused Reel Foot for Leader Protection

We machined a smooth radius around the reel foot for comfortable wrapping and to prevent:

• Kinks

• Memory

• Damage to leader, tip, or tippet

Easy Retrieve Conversion

Retrieve direction changes quickly with a simple flip of the clutch bearing — no hassle, no complicated teardown.

Wide Palming Rim

A wide palming rim adds another layer of control when the fish decides to go full freight train.
