When trout are locked in on Pale Morning Duns and refusing anything that doesn’t look just right, Harrop’s CDC PMD is the fly you want on your leader. Designed by legendary spring-creek angler René Harrop, this pattern is all about subtle realism, low profile, and natural drift.
The CDC wing traps micro-air bubbles and lets the fly sit delicately in the surface film, perfectly imitating emerging and freshly hatched PMDs. Unlike heavily hackled dries, this fly doesn’t skate or ride too high—making it deadly on flat water, slow seams, and heavily pressured trout.
Fish it during PMD hatches when trout are selectively feeding, or as a searching dry when mayflies are present but sporadic.
