Tim Rajeff took his time with the new design, combining the deep-loading feel and fish-fighting advantages of fiberglass with modern Spey casting techniques and today’s shorter shooting heads. The result still has plenty of old-school soul, although it may be a little more Tom Waits than Louis Armstrong.

The new Echo Fiberglass Spey is built with S2 fiberglass, using larger-diameter blanks with thinner walls to reduce weight and improve recovery. That gives the rod a crisper feel and more line speed without sacrificing the deep flex and unmistakable character that make glass Spey rods so much fun to cast.

Shorter rod lengths also make these two-handed rods particularly well suited to short Spey and Skagit-style heads, delivering modern casting performance while retaining that classic “why is my handle flexing?” fiberglass feel.

S2 glass also offers greater elongation than graphite, allowing anglers to maintain steady pressure on hard-fighting fish while helping protect light tippet and prevent pulled hooks.
