The New Age Western Green Drake is Jack Arnot’s modern imitation of one of the West’s most important large mayflies. Its olive body and tall synthetic wing create an easy-to-see profile that remains visible in broken and choppy water—the kind of water where Green Drakes often bring surprisingly large trout to the surface.
Western Green Drakes are substantial mayflies, and when they hatch, trout can become completely focused on them. Fish this pattern during the emergence or anytime Green Drake duns are riding the surface, especially along seams, riffle edges, and softer water adjacent to faster currents.
