Anaa Atoll - October 14-21, 2026

Anaa Atoll - October 14-21, 2026

We are always seeking out new, exciting fisheries a where anglers can experience fantastic fishing without going overboard on costs.  Anaa Atoll has been on my radar for a few years.

I was told by someone that went a few years ago that this is like Christmas Island on steroids.  More and bigger GTs, more shots at big wrasse and snappers, bigger "single cruiser" bones, plus way more of the exotic species that you may never see anywhere else.  Nicer accommodations, better food, plus you get to hang out in Tahiti for a couple of days...  Overall a great experience, and a step up from Christmas Island.

We have 2 spots open for October 14-21, 2026

Located 200 miles East of Tahiti, Anaa atoll is a tiny dot deep in the South Pacific. Although it is remote, Anaa is not hard to travel to. With daily flights leaving LAX and SFO direct to Tahiti, fly fishers can enjoy a plethora of incredible flats species on fly similar to that of the Seychelles, without the brutal 3 days of travel getting there. The local bonefish population is also protected thanks to Fly Odyssey and The Island Initiative. With help from the locals and community leaders, this closed season protects the large spawning bonefish from fishing pressure as they move from the lagoon to the ocean passes during the spawning season. With the designation of a new marine park, anglers descending on Anaa can look forward to a bonefish population that is happy, healthy and unpressured for years to come

This is a Fly Odyssey flagship and exclusive destination with only 6 anglers allowed to fish the atoll at a time. It is ideal for single anglers, couples, or families, and the entire adventure including the cultural experience is a memory that will stay with you forever.

All The Details

Fishing Program

Fly Fishing

This trip is ideal for intermediate and experienced saltwater anglers, couples and small groups ready to experience this hidden gem in French Polynesia. Fly Odyssey can accommodate a group of up to 6 anglers with exclusive access to Anaa’s, reef, bonefish flats, and lagoon for the duration of the week.

The fishing on Anaa can be categorized into three main areas; the bonefish flats, the inshore reef, and the reef edge. A typical day will start out on the bonefish flats in the morning with an 8 or 9 weight rod, followed by walking the inshore reef and the reef edge in the afternoon looking for GT’s, bohar snapper, napoleon wrasse and bluefin trevally with your 12 weight.

The bonefishing can be outstanding with singles and doubles cruising in very shallow water. The bonefish on Anaa are typically 4-5 lbs with larger fish in the 8 lb range being caught regularly. Keep in mind as with most Pacific islands, you will not see massive schools of bonefish like you would in Belize and Mexico, but the hunt for these bigger cruising fish is very rewarding.

Even when bonefishing, it is important to remember to keep your 12 weight rigged as we often see big bluefin and GT’s cruising the edges of these vast sand flats. It is important to note, that the water temperature and tidal influence in the lagoon is dictated by the ocean swell which can vary throughout the year. Travel time to the flats is usually a 20 – 30 minute boat ride each morning.

Anglers need to have a decent level of fitness to fish the reef edge. There can be a decent swell at times, with large coral heads to navigate through. While this is adventure fishing at its best, and one of the reasons Anaa is so special, it requires a more intermediate to advanced fly angler to have success.

Accomodations

LODGING

Flo’s guesthouse is a magnificent family run operation featuring a spacious house with 4 rooms inside and two detached cabanas outside. Just a short walk from the impossibly blue lagoon, this quaint and beautiful guesthouse is the perfect spot to spend your week on Anaa.

The lodge features a communal dining and bar area as well as an outdoor seating area perfect for a cocktail after a full day of fishing. The food is incredible and highlights some of the local island flare. For breakfast you can expect farm fresh eggs, toast and local jam and honey, local fruit and beautiful baguettes and french cheeses.

Lunch and drinks are packed on the boats and sent with you to the flats each day and includes bottled water, sandwiches, chips, snacks, cookies and fruit. Dinner is served around 7 each night and is a highlight for most traveling to Anaa. Local seafood delicacies such as poisson cru which is a local fish marinated in coconut milk and lime juice as well as fresh caught lobster frequent the table. The food and overall experience at Flo’s guesthouse is second to none, which is why the Fly Odyssey team frequently hosts trips to Anaa, and why this has become one of our flagship destinations.
