September-April: Best to fish when the weather is bad. Afternoon hatches on cold, overcast days.
It's so much more than a John Denver song. This is a great fishing state. WV is not full of elegant Montana trout rivers, but more like gritty little creeks where you work hard for your trout, but the rewards are there. We have many loyal customers from West Virginia, its like a second home for us. Thank you.
Tons of great fishing runs up and down the state, from the tiniest ditch of a creek to the mighty Shenandoah. The Elk River may be the most well-known trout river in the state, but it is hardly the only one.
World-class smallmouth fishing is available as well as a healthy Musky fishery for those warm-water anglers.
There are great options for a day, a week or a lifetime's worth of quality fishing in West Virginia.

These are a classic Eastern Mayfly. These bugs tend to hatch in May and June in big numbers.
Big, Juicy mayfly treats that trout cannot resist. Every trout in the river will fight for a taste.
These are the first mayflies of the season to hatch in riffles. We love them as much as trout do.
April-October, these are consistent and reliable. Fish eat a ton of caddis.
July-September; Hoppers, Crickets, Beetles, Ants. Fish these patterns!
