North Carolina is one of the most diverse fly fishing states in the Southeast. From the cool, tumbling streams of the Blue Ridge Mountains to the salt marshes and barrier islands of the Atlantic Coast, anglers can pursue an incredible variety of species without ever leaving the state. Whether your passion is trout, bass, or saltwater sight fishing, North Carolina has something to offer.
The mountains of western North Carolina are home to thousands of miles of trout water, including famous rivers like the Davidson, Watauga, Nantahala, Tuckasegee, and South Toe. Wild and stocked populations of brook, brown, and rainbow trout provide excellent fishing throughout the year, while Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers countless miles of scenic mountain streams filled with native Southern Appalachian brook trout.
On the coast, North Carolina has earned a reputation as one of the East Coast's premier saltwater fly fishing destinations. Redfish, speckled trout, striped bass, false albacore, and even tarpon can all be targeted with a fly depending on the season. Add in excellent smallmouth bass fishing on many of the state's rivers, and North Carolina stands out as one of the most complete fly fishing destinations in the country.
These are the top selling patterns that have been shipped to North Carolina over the past 5 years
