  • The March Brown is a common insect name given to many different insect species.
  • At its most simple, if you are fishing early spring (doesn't have to be March), and you see a hatch sometime midday, and the color is somewhere in the brown category, you best be prepared.
  • This pattern is medium brown, also covers Brown Drake.
  • Many places this will be the first significant dry fly action after the long winter.
  • Rithrogena Germanica, Stenonema Vicarium, Rhithrogena morrisoni, are all insects commonly referred to as March Browns.
