  • This fly works great anywhere ants are present. 
  • Fact-  Ants live everywhere on earth besides  Antarctica  and fish LOVE eating them.   
  • I really like fishing this fly around rocky shorelines  on mountain lakes or under overhanging tree branches where these bugs will often fall into the lake.   
  • This fly got its name and was designed to fish in the deep narrow trenches that can be found  where a certain creek flow into a certain lake, carving out a narrow slot that fish use to feed on the many bugs that funnel into these areas. 
  • Thus the creation of The Trench Ant.
  • Suspend the fly under an indicator a foot or two off the bottom in these trenches or strip the fly in like you would a streamer.  
  • Oddly enough , this fly fishes great in winter too.
