  • Emerger patterns are kind of the odd duck in the fly pattern world.  They are meant to sit in the subsurface the very top section of the water column.
  • Most emerger patterns end up sinking as they travel downstream, unlike real emergers which rise.
  • The Everfloat Caddis is the emerger pattern that will not sink on you.  The foam body keeps it afloat right on the top of the water column just like a caddis emergering from the water for the first time.
  • When chasing trout during a caddis hatch and you see the slurping flies from the surface, tie one of these babies on and hold on.
  • Flies often get hung up in the surface film, before taking flight, they are especially vulnerable at this time.
