Barr’s BWO Glass Bead

The Barr’s BWO Glass Bead is a subtle, effective mayfly pattern designed for selective trout feeding on Blue-Winged Olive nymphs. Developed with a lightly weighted glass bead, this fly sinks very slowly and naturally without the flash or aggression of metal beads—perfect for pressured water, clear flows, and wary fish eating in slow backwaters.

The slim profile, soft movement, and muted coloration closely match natural BWO nymphs, making this fly deadly during pre-hatch periods, cold-water conditions, and technical tailwaters. The glass bead provides just enough weight to get the fly into the zone while maintaining a realistic drift.

Fish it as a lead nymph, in a two-fly rig, or trailing behind a heavier attractor when trout are keyed in on smaller mayflies.
