Rising out of the high desert of northern Nevada, Pyramid Lake is one of the most unique trophy trout fisheries in the world. The lake is home to Lahontan cutthroat trout, a legendary native species capable of reaching extraordinary sizes. Anglers travel from around the country for the opportunity to hook a truly massive cutthroat while surrounded by Pyramid Lake's stark desert landscape, towering tufa formations, and seemingly endless water.

Fly fishing Pyramid Lake is unlike fishing a typical trout lake. Anglers often wade from beaches or fish from ladders, using heavy shooting heads and sinking lines to retrieve beetles, boobies, leeches, and baitfish patterns through deeper water. Chironomids and balanced leeches suspended beneath indicators can be equally important, particularly when trout move closer to shore. With fish measured in pounds rather than inches and the legitimate possibility of encountering the biggest trout of your life, Pyramid Lake belongs on any serious trout angler's bucket list.
